Hello Norah.

I am sorry, but I have to leave now and can only kickstart the discussion (maybe) with a quite general statement:
You could in principle and there are some arguments for that. But you may have an easier life, if it is not necessary.
I would be interested in your thinking so far and hopefully will find some time to re-join the thread later.

Best regards,

Relax

 Substrate for CYP1A1?

Hi Relaxation,

I agree. In general I would not worry too much about including mild to moderate smokers unless a drug is mainly (!) metabolized by CYP1A1.

@Norah: Check the literature whether diclofenac is a substrate for CYP1A1 (I don’t think so).

effect of tabacco on diclofenac metabolism

thank u relaxation :)

diclofenac is a substrate of cytochrome P450 2C9 / tobacco is an inducer of cytochromes P450 1A1, 1A2 and 2E1
therefore no effect of tobacco on the metabolism of diclofenac.
