storage of subject samples and CC and QC samples [Bioanalytics]

Dear Group members,

hai

is there any guideline mentioning that the CC standards and QC samples should be stored in the same freezer. or
the subject samples with stability samples are stored in one freezer for
example -80C and the CC standards and QC samples in another freezer, of same temperature -80C.

My opinion is as the know samples are with the subject samples then there is not need of the storage of the CC standards and QC samples along with the subject samples only. As stability samples are with the subject samples the behaviour of the samples can be determined.

Dear Ramesh,

Nothing on this topic in the guidelines I'm familiar with. A common recommendation is to keep at least some QC samples in the same freezer as your subject samples so that if you have some problems with the freezer you can demonstrate whether it had or not any impact on the sample stability. But if you separate the samples in two aliquotes in the clinic and keep those aliquotes in separate freezers you would also avoid problems if one freezer fails.
