 calibration and validation [Bioanalytics]

Dear all,

what is difference between calibration and validation?
whenever we purchased new instruments we have validated (IQ, OQ, PQ) after that instruments calibrated yearly or as per defined frequency. Now my question is It is necessary to revalidate instruments if we calibrated instruments as per defined frequency?

Thanks & Regards

 calibration and validation

Dear Mr. Vishal,

❝ what is difference between calibration and validation?

'Validation' is used while dealing with software and computer related issues. While dealing with analytical equipment it is better to use 'Qualification' instead of 'Validation'.

'Qualification' is checking the performance of an equipment whether it meets the required accuracy / precision or not. This only gives information on whether the equipment is acceptable for use or not. 'Calibration' is correcting the equipment to give accurate reading.

We carryout qualification tests (PQ) for HPLC system. We calibrate the balance, which is followed by qualification test.
