 dose response study design [Design Issues]

hai i am new to this forum, advance thanks to all.
we have to plan a dose response study of diabetic drug ie which prevents the absorption of glucose from the diet. First we have to identify the dose of the drug among different doses of reference drug and then comparing the reference drug which is responded with the standard test formulation. So any of u can suggest study design and stats design.
