dear joshi ! in the case of two treatments A and B: independent usually means: treatment A ist administered in n subjects and treatment B is adminstered in m DIFFERENT (i.e. independent) subjects dependent or paired usually means: treatment A is administered in n subjects and after a period of time treatment B is administered in the same subjects. NOTE: statistical analysis is different for these two scenarios NOTE: a cross-over design is a special case of a "paired design" hope this helps martin |
