Urine Collection for BE study [Study Performance]

Hi all,

Question about urine collection.. How do you deal with loss of urine due to spillage during collection? Example: When the subject discharges into the container, when clinic staff transfer the collected samples into a bigger bottle (24 hour pooling).

Someone suggested that one should soak up the spillage with a towl and measure the volume spilled :-| That's an idea...

Thanks

John

Hi John!

Spillage? Beware of shaky hands; get younger employees or use a funnel. ;-)

How would one measure the volume then? Doable would be to weigh the towel (dry/wet) and calculate the volume based on measured density of the main sample. Is that really worth the efforts?

Yes, or squeeze out the fluid??? I think your idea would be better.
