Relativ potency (Finney) [Power / Sample Size]

Dear all,

imagine a 4-sequence, 4-period, 4 treatment crossover study as described in the Canadian guideline „Guidance to establish equivalence or relative potency of safety and efficacy of a second entry short-acting beta 2- agonist metered dose inhaler“. According Richard C. Ahrens et. al. for example “Asthma Stability after Oral prednisone” sample size depends on the ratio of slope and variability.

Does anybody knows how to calculate sample size for relative potency, in crossover or parallel group studies ?

Best regards,
earlybird

Not me. ;-) Did you consider asking Richard Ahrens? He is a nice guy.
