Two Stage Design [Regulatives / Guidelines]

Dear HS,

I don't have access to the paper, but it is an interesting issue. But what is meant by "evaluate the power at stage 1"? Am I right that only sample size is adjusted, but intial assumptions on difference and variance are used otherwise?
