Metformin 1000 mg vs metformin 500 mg x 2 tablets [Design Issues]

Dear Sir

I had one query about the following titled study

An open lable, balanced, randomized, two treatment, two period, two sequence, single dose, crossover bioequivalence study of Metformin 1000 mg + atorvastatin 10 mg tablets Vs two tablets of metformin 500 mg + atorvastatin 10 mg tablets

now my query is can we administer two 500 mg tablets as substitute for 1000 mg tablet

2. In such situation, is there any impact on their pharmaco kinetics
