Timeline for protocol approval by DCGI [Regulatives / Guidelines]

Dear forum,
Is there any timeframe mentioned for approval of protocol and /or its amandment by the DCGI? 3 months before, we have submitted one ammendment to DCGI and till we have not recieved anything from DCGI. so can we initiate the study?
