Dear HS,

thanks for the help. However I think that link misses the point a little bit. The question I have been discussing with myself this morning (yes, ok, that perhaps sounds borderline schizophrenic) is not what type III SS are, rather how they should be presented for a nested situation; the R way of doing single term deletion is to do single term deletion, while the SAS way of doing single term deletion is to do single term deletion with the added bonus of rabbits out of a hat for the factor in which another factor is nested.

You have an opinion perhaps?
