Hi BRN,

❝ I know many people are using SAS but SAS is an expensive solution and I don't have it. I have SPSS. Should I start learning it? Do you guys have other suggestions?

Someone is going to kill me for saying this, but in the absence of loads of $$$ I am leaning towards a simple solution based on a spreadsheet such as OpenOffice Calc or MS Excel.
I am saying this because if you need to learn a language like SPSS from scratch that that process in itself is in my subjective opinion the source of more trouble than the trouble you can expect from a spreadsheet. Stories about spreadsheets calculating certain stuff wrongly or trasmitting gonorrhoea to the user etc are abundant here on this forum and elsewhere, and they are actually true but in effect to a large extent historical curiosities with little relevance to such simple tasks as calculating descriptive stats from common everyday data entries.

Pass or fail!
