Dear sir, in some ba/be studies during screening or during some studies, the axillary temperature or oral temperature is measured why? why is it like that, is there difference between both of them or any specific drug requires only oral or axillary temperature.please clarify. |

Hello Eswar, elevated body temperature is a sign of inflammation, therefore it's included in the screening. The method of measurement hardly matters; axilliary temperature is about 0.2-0.5 °C lower than oral temperature, but the method itself is less reliable. If you want to get a quick result, you also may opt for a pyrometer-measurement in the ear. Body temperature should be monitored during all studies of infusions (especially in the first hours). regards, Hermann |
