Dear all, recently the question came up whether volunteers in India (state of Gujarat) could have different average pH in their intestinal tract than Europeans. An instant release product did show a considerably slower absorption there than expected from preceding studies elsewhere. Does anyone of you know about studies on that topic? Dear Martin! Hhm, I don’t know of any study dealing with ethnic differences in gastric pH (except Japanese). But it’s well known that vegetarians show significantly slower gastric motility than non-vegs (for an example see here). To my knowledge >95% of Gujarat’s population are vegetarians; did you exclude them from your study (like in most BE/BA protocols I have seen)? In a recent (19 April, 2008) presentation FDA stated:
same effects as non-vegetarian meals — Dif-tor heh smusma 🖖🏼 Довге життя Україна! ![]() Helmut Schütz ![]() The quality of responses received is directly proportional to the quality of the question asked. 🚮 Science Quotes |

Hi Tinus, could you put the issue into a functional context? EM. |
