Dear ElMaestro!

❝ I am starting to believe lme does in some cases not really reach the goal, so I switched to lmer (package lme4). Syntactically something like:

ElModel=lmer(logCmax ~ per+seq+trt + (trt-1|subj))

❝ -which achieves the same.

Really :ponder:

Using the newer lmer() instead of lme() is another possibility, considered by me also before coming up with my R implementation attempt of the FDA Proc MIXED code. But it lacks the separate estimability of the intra-subject error variance for Test and Reference, I think. As far as I know (from the R help lists) there are no plans to introduce somefink like weights in lmer().
Therefore it is not so useful in the framework of scABE, I think.

I could be wrong, but ... :-D

Regards,

Detlew
